We're proud to announce that Seven Clean Seas is now an official Environmental Partner of 1% for the Planet!
This recognition connects Seven Clean Seas with a global network of businesses committed to environmental responsibility, enabling companies to directly fund verified ocean plastic cleanup projects, support plastic recovery in Southeast Asia, and contribute to measurable ESG impact.
Why 1% for the Planet?
1% for the Planet is a global environmental movement founded in 2002 to prevent greenwashing and ensure that corporate sustainability commitments translate into real, verified impact. The initiative connects businesses that pledge 1% of their annual revenue to environmental causes with a vetted network of high-impact environmental partners.
Today, the network includes thousands of businesses in over 100 countries, collectively contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental solutions spanning climate action, biodiversity protection, regenerative agriculture, and ocean conservation.
What makes 1% for the Planet distinctive is its rigorous partner vetting and accountability framework. Environmental partners must demonstrate measurable impact, financial transparency, and strong governance before being approved. Member companies are also verified annually to ensure they fulfill their 1% commitment - creating credibility on both sides of the partnership.

For Seven Clean Seas, joining this network means:
- Expanding access to mission-aligned businesses seeking verified ocean plastic solutions
- Accelerating funding into certified plastic recovery and circular economy projects
- Supporting companies in meeting ESG, sustainability, and plastic reduction commitments
- Strengthening global collaboration to close the plastic waste funding gap
By becoming an approved Environmental Partner, Seven Clean Seas enables 1% for the Planet members to confidently allocate their environmental giving toward certified ocean plastic removal, plastic footprint reduction, and measurable social impact in high-leakage regions.
Advancing Seven Clean Seas’ Impact Initiatives
As a leading ocean plastic impact organisation, Seven Clean Seas builds, owns, and operates certified plastic recovery and treatment projects in some of the world’s highest plastic leakage hotspot regions including Bintan and Batam in Indonesia, and Bangkok in Thailand.

By owning and managing our projects directly, from collection through to processing and third-party certification, we ensure every stage meets the highest standards of environmental integrity and social responsibility. This hands-on approach enables us to deliver:
1. 100% formally employed, fairly paid waste collectors with long-term contracts and social protections.
2. Third-party certified plastic credits under globally recognised standards such as Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Standard (PWRS) and Ocean-Bound Plastic (OBP).
3. Independent audits and transparent reporting through our ‘Periscope’ platform, giving partners full confidence in the data behind every kilogram recovered.
4. Measurable social impact, improving livelihoods, education outcomes, circular economy infrastructure, and community health.
Since our founding, Seven Clean Seas has recovered over 7,000,000 kg of ocean-bound plastic across Southeast Asia, building certified recovery infrastructure in some of the world’s highest leakage regions.
By joining 1% for the Planet, companies can now direct their 1% environmental commitment toward our certified ocean plastic removal projects that generate both environmental protection and meaningful social returns - backed by independently verified impact.
An Invitation to Act
