Seven Clean Seas builds ocean plastic recovery, river plastic interception and coastal community waste management projects that provide fair formalised jobs and cleans the ocean.
Each 1,000kg of plastic that we remove from the ocean or prevent from entering the ocean can generate a plastic credit. You can buy plastic credits to compensate for your plastic footprint whilst generating positive environmental impact. This generates the funding we need to operate and build new projects.
get involvedWe built Seven Clean Seas out of a love for the ocean... Because the sea is f***ing awesome, obviously! As such, ocean impact will always be at the heart of the projects we build and the positive impact we create.
No-matter how you work with us, you’re funding ocean impact! Whether that be buying Plastic Credits, using our Sustainability Consultancy, buying a T for your mum or linking up for a brand partnership... it ALL supports our projects.
Science tells us that 70% of all plastic pollution gets to the ocean via rivers. Therefore if we're serious about stemming ocean plastic pollution (you already know the answer) then we must push the boundaries and develop solutions that are scalable in their impact and financial accessibility.
It's expensive, it's a challenge, it's a bit of a headache but you know what, we don't care! We use a blend of philanthropic funding and revenue from our services to pursue this goal. If you fancy taking on an unreasonably difficult challenge, give us a call
And that's exactly what we provide. Period. We built Seven Clean Seas to generate environmental impact, but we quickly learned that we have a responsibility to create real positive social impact in the communities we serve by hiring locally, and formally.
The waste management sector has a heavy reliance on the informal sector. Even in instances where they are paid fairly, there's no additional security provided under formal contracts, maternity leave, sick pay and so on. It's time to change this.
At a project level, we’re investing in household plastic collection from coastal communities that do not have waste management services. This stops plastic being discarded directly into the sea and is a key step in systemically stopping plastic pollution in the first place.
Additionally, our inhouse sustainability experts are leading the field in developing science based methodologies for plastic measurement and plastic reduction. Seven Clean Seas is now collaborating with industry to raise the bar and is a member of The Plastic Footprint Network to this end.
